Khutbah

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I have observed in some mosques in the city that when the imam is sitting between the two khutbahs (sermons) on Friday for dhikr and du`a’, donation boxes are being passed through the lines. Is this an acceptable innovation or not? Jazakum Allah khayran.

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. In the West and in English-speaking countries, is there a problem in giving all the Friday khutbahs (sermons) in English without any word in Arabic? Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Why are the names of the first four caliphs (RA),the name of the prophet's (SAW) uncle Abbas (RA), the prophet's (SAW) daughter Fatima (RA)and his grandsons recited in the second Khuthba of the Friday prayer?In my country these names are recited Friday in the second Khuthba of the Friday prayer. I have been given different reason's why this is done

A none Muslim attended a Friday khutbah, and he asked why does the khateeb set after the 1st half of the khutbah? Jazakum Allah Khairannaim

AA Is it permissible to give Khutbahs on Judaism and Christianity to the Muslims attending?  We are a small community and that's the only time we meet and the community hardly knows anything about these two faiths to engage in any discussion. JAK Wa Ramadan Mubarak

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. It seems that quite often, when people are giving the khutbah (sermon), they focus on our negative traits rather than our good traits. Is there any way that we can be told about our faults in a way that may not make us feel hopeless and that makes us want to change ourselves for the better rather than feel guilty for everything we have ever done? As-salamu `alaykum! Honorable Sheikh, I am from Gujarat, India. I have observed that the imams and scholars deliver the Friday khutbah (sermon) in Arabic only. Unfortunately, barely two to five percent of the people can understand it. Please do some thing about this. Jazakum Allahu Khayran

As-Salamu `alaykum. I would like to know what a person should do upon entering the mosque for Friday prayer while the khutbah (sermon) is being delivered. Should he offer the two-unit prayer (rak`ahs) of greeting the mosque or just sit down and listen to the khutbah? Thanks.

Scholars of Islam, As-Salamu `alaykum. Recently, I attended a Friday khutbah where the Imam delivered the khutbah with only one part (i.e., he did not sit between the two khutbahs. Is this correct?

Respected scholars, as-salamu`alaykum.  I will move from Dubai to a place in British Columbia, Canada, called Campbell River; there is no mosque in this city as there are no Muslims there. Do I have to leave my work at the time of Jumu`ah Prayer although I won't go for prayer in a mosque, or should I simply pray Zhuhr?Another thing is that I'm not aware of the food available in that area. But as long as there are no Muslims there, I probably won't have access to h alal food there. So is it OK to eat outdoors beef and pizza as I won't cook at home? Your reply is appreciated. I feel upset because of those concerns.
