Washing Glasses in Which Alcohol Is Drunk, as a job.
As'salamualaykum wa'rahmatulahe wa'barakatahu!I am currently a 2nd year student planning to pay my tuition fees, accomodation and other expenses myself through part time work, if Allah wills. Thanks to Allah, I found a job in a cafe/bar in my University's theatre/cinema. There are different kinds of work in th is place, e.g. serving(Front of house), bar, kiosk and kitchen. Thanks to Allah, I chose kitchen and worked there. Therefore, my work sometimes includes washing glasses in which alcohol is drunk sometimes. However, now I have read Prophet Muhammad(PBUH)'s saying on Alcohol and the curse of Allah on it. From some scholar's view I may not be handling alcohol, while from others I must look for another job. Keeping in mind the Prophet's(PBUH)saying on avoiding "doubtful matters" I have decided to quit tomorrow, if Allah wills, and placed my full trust in Allah that when I leave this job, He will feed me.My question is, is it actually haram(forbidden) in Shariah(Islamic Law) to work where I do, considering I have comparitively less contact with Alcohol and pig meat? If yes, why?Jazak'Allah khair.
