Fasting

As-salamu `alaykum. May Allah reward you abundantly. My question is: Are there any specific days in the month of Sha`ban in which fasting is commendable? Thanks.

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. Is it permissible to fast after the middle of Sha`ban? I heard that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting after halfway through Sha`ban.  Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. Is someone who is fasting allowed to use ear and eye drop medication? Also, what about nasal sprays for allergy or sinus problems? Jazakum Allah khayran.

As-salamu `alaykum. I have heard a lot of Muslims talking about the 15th of Sha`ban as a time for fasting and extra worship, yet I have never read any authentic hadiths to support this. What is your opinion regarding that?

As-Salamu `Alykum. Are there certain days to fast in the week as a Sunnah or is it a bid`ah (innovation in religion)? Some books say it is Sunnah to fast Mondays, Thursdays, and 13th, 14th, and 15th of each months. Does that mean those days are special in the week and month or holier? Could you explain this please? Does intentional vomiting during the day of Ramadan vitiate fasting?

My mother-in-law is required to wear a medicated patch on her arm for a heart condition that she has. She is refusing to do that, believing that the patch will break her fast. I would like a fatwa if she can use the patch and remain fasting.

I now fast re gularly during Ramadan, but in the past I missed many fasts of Ramadan without any excuse. I regret that very much and I want to make up for the days that I missed. Please tell me how can I do that.

As-Salamu `alaykum. What amount of food (volume or weight), especially cereal (rice or wheat) should be given as fidyah (ransom) for a missed fast due to old age? What happens if the old person himself is being cared for by his son?

Dear Sheikh, as-Salamu `alaykum! Is it permissible for a woman to put kohl in the mornings during the month of Ramadan? Also, what is the ruling on putting drops in the ears during the fast day?

My family is typically of the Christian faith and will expect me to break my fast to enjoy Thanksgiving Day. Is this Islamically acceptable? If it is, can I break my fast and make up for the day later on? Is it permissible for a Muslim to attend Thanksgiving with his family who are non-Muslims?

I want to fast `Ashura’ this year (the tenth), but some people told me that the Sunnah is to fast the day before as well (the ninth). Is there any report that this was the teaching of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

If one's gums bleed while brushing his or her teeth, would it break the fast? What if one swallows the blood? Jazakum Allah Khayran

As-salamu `alaykum wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh. I have noticed that some Muslims specify the 15th of Sha`ban with some acts of worship such as fasting during the dayti me, observing qiaym al-layl or night vigil, reading the Glorious Qur'an, and making du`aa'. Dear Scholar, I would like to know what is the Islamic ruling & fatwa for me in this regard. I failed to complete my fasting which I missed out in my menstrual period of past few years. So far I have missed more than 70 fasting last few years. I was unable to perform at least a single one so far. I can perform what I missed in last year, but what can I do for the fasting I missed in previous years?

salam..i am muslim but i dont wear a hijab or pray and i am planing to fast this ramadan i wanted to know if i can fast without praying or wering a hijab?

assalamualaikum just wanted to ask if a woman breaks her fast on purpose without any valid reason then kafarah will be wajib according to the hanafi fiqh. however if she experinces her period on the same day will it still be wajib for her to do a kafarah.(according to the hanafi fiqh)

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum.  If someone fasts six days of Shawwal every year, then one year he gets sick or becomes too lazy to fast or something prevents him from fasting, is that a sin? I've heard that if a person fasts these six days one year, he must never give up this practice thereafter. Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Respected scholar, as-salamu `alaykum.  Maybe Morocco and Belgium will start and end Ramadan the same date, but what if I start Ramadan the first of September in Belgium, and then I go to Morocco the last two weeks of September/Ramadan and they fast 30 days in Morocco, must I fast with them? That will make my Ramadan a total of 31 days! Jazakum Allahu k hayran.
