What does Islam view of dogs?
Here in North America , poeple pay a great respect to pets, particularly towards dogs, probably than any other pet.An elderly female passenger was recently upset at the airport. She requested the ticket agent to give her a copy of her itinerary. She was not happy for not seeing the name of her dog in the ticket. She complained that her pet should have been treated with dignity and respect and should have been called by name as she considered it as her own child.When people see Muslims don't like dogs, some of them get upset and offended.I know that we consider dogs unclean. If they touch you while wet, you have to wash seven times.I would like to ask you for your input on this matter.What does Islam view dogs in general?What should my response be when someone asks me why we consider it unclean?Are we allowed to keep it at home?I also wonder whether other faith communities also abhor dogs in general?Abubakar
