Salam Alaikum, I live in Canada, and although hijab is not banned, it is certainly not welcomed. I observe hijab, elhamdulillah, and am very proud of it. However, I am an engineer and have been looking for a job for over a year and have not been successful. I do really well on the tests and interviews, and I think I haven't been successful in getting a job because of the "general views" towards muhajjbat and muslims in general. Although there are many muhajjabat in Canada, you hardly find any with high positions.I am divorced and living with my parents and our financial situation is not very good. I really need to work to help out at home. Having worked hard for my education, I think it is my right to have a good job. My questions is, would it be okay to take off the hijab only for my next job interview?Thank you,Salam Alikum

Assalaamu alaikum my most respected Brothers and Sisters in Islam,I turn to you with this question because you have more knowledge of this deen than I, being as I am a revert to Islam.My question concerns the permissibility of working as a special agent for for a US Govt. agency, namely the FBI or CIA.As an American, I feel compelled to support my country and do what I can to prevent any terrorist attacks where innocent non-combatants, women, children, and elderly are hurt or worse.  However, as a Muslim, I am wary of doing anything that could lead me to be considered on the side of those who oppose Islam or Islamic principles.I do not think that is the purpose of these agencies, but I don't feel I have enough knowledge of the deen in this matter to make a decision without more opinions.Jazakallah khair in advance for your advice.

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. Can a Muslim be a judge in a secular country and judge according to secular law, which is contradictory with the Shari`ah law? Jazakum Allahu khayran.

I am a cat scan technologist. Is it halal for me to be a US government worker, and work in a government hospital were I might have to take care of troops coming back from Iraq or even high ranking US government officals?

Is it lawful for the committee of a masjid to appoint an imam who is living in the country illegally and who had made a false passport and visa, whereas it is possible to find an imam who abides by the law? What is the ruling of praying behind this kind of imam? Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Can a muslim be ajudge in asecular country and judge according to secular law, which is contraditory with the sharia law?

Is it an obligation on a Muslim to live in an Islamic country unless it's for learning or making da`wah?

The definition of secularism is: "The belief that religion and ecclesiastical affairs should not enter into the function of the state especially into public education." I was surfing the Internet and I came across a web-page titled "Secularism Vs. Islam". I noted that at the end of the topic, one thing it states is "secularism is clear kufr, this is why secular systems have no legality and authority and should be rejected by Muslims." Certainly most Muslims believe in an Islamic System, but if you live in a non-Islamic country favorin g secularism and you contribute towards that system, does this make you a secularist?
