Scholars of Islam, as-salamu `alaykum. One of our Muslim brothers asked me whether we are allowed to be godfather of a Christian child? Our Muslim brother told me that one of his business colleagues asked him to be the godfather of his colleague’s daughter. He asked me whether it is allowed in Islam. I know that in our area being baptized is not because of religion, but rather a cultural custom. However, I know that Allah has forbidden testifying falsehood, and we must not approve their polytheistic rituals. What shall I answer to this brother?
Please tell me what is the first step in converting a Christian to Islam? What is the easiest thing I can say or teach to invite them to Islam without offending them? Is there a book I can buy?
Dear Sheikh! Ramadan Mubarak! I have a simple question for you. Can I have Iftar (i.e. to have an Iftar meal) at the house of my Christian friend?
Dear scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. Is it permissible for a Muslim family living in the States to celebrate Christmas, or to give Christmas gifts and receive them? Can they decorate the outside of their homes with lights and can they have a Christmas tree inside their homes? Where should they draw the line? What things are permissible and what are not during Christmas celebrations?
