Muslims must be respectful to the laws of the country they live in. They should set a good example for others in all aspects of life. They should never tell lies or submit false papers in order to seek accommodation or political asylum in any country. If it happened that Muslims sought living in a country based on false papers, they have to correct the situation in order to live legitimately while respecting the rules of the Islamic Shari`ah as well as the laws of the country they live in.
Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada , states, We are not allowed to submit false papers for purpose of getting immigration status or for any other reasons. By doing so, one is making a false oath; we are ordered to be truthful in words and acts: Allah says, (O you who believe, remain ever-conscious of Allah and be with those who are truthful) (At-Tawbah 9:119). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Be diligent in speaking truth, for truth- speaking leads to virtue, and virtue leads to paradise; beware of lying, for lying leads to corruption, and corruption leads to Hell.”
