Zeinab Al-`Alawani, Instructor of Fiqh and Islamic Studies, Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences, states the following: “As long as their intention is NOT to permanently stop pregnancy and having children, and it is only done for a period of time until they’re both at a point of readiness, it is insha’Allah permissible.
It might be also good, as in many cases of newly married couple, to build strong family relationship and develop better understanding of one another before you even think of having children.”
