Sheikh `Abdul-`Aziz Ibn Baz, the late Mufti of Saudi Arabia, stated: “If a person performs Hajj on behalf of another person and at the miqat he forgets to mention the person’s name while pronouncing the Talbiyah, his Hajj will be accepted as long as his intention is that the Hajj is on behalf of that other person. This is based on the hadith in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said “Actions are but by intention.” So if the intention is to perform Hajj on behalf of the one who gave him money, then he does not have to mention his or her name at the point of entering the state of ihram.”
