Muslim youth camping has a great role to play in bringing Muslim families and individuals of diverse backgrounds together as it brings about fostering unity, cooperation, solidarity, and communication among Muslim families and individuals. To achieve this role, camping should be well designed and comprehensive.
Dr. Sano Koutoub Moustapha, professor of fiqh and its principles, International Islamic University, Malaysia, states the following: “Surely, Muslim youth camping is one of the ways of bringing Muslims from different backgrounds together.
In this regard, the camping should be designed with a mission of creating a platform for Muslim families and individuals to meet one another and look for ways and means of cooperation and coordination in the future for mutual benefit and interest.
Islam always stands for strong cooperation and ties among Muslims. The Muslim youth nowadays should transcend all traditional barriers and obstacles of the past. They should live their time based on cooperation and communication among nations, aiming to participate positively in the development of the world at large.
Accordingly, there should be strong commitment towards fostering unity, cooperation, solidarity, and communication among Muslim families and individuals.
To achieve this noble purpose, the camping should be well planned and comprehensive. Having said all this, there is no harm of spending some time for entertainment and relaxing.
Muslim families and individuals are strongly recommended to relax during the holidays and vacations. This is in line with the Prophetic statement which says: “Your body has a right upon you, as your Lord does have a right. Therefore, do give each of them their right.”
Thus, Muslims need to relax and take vacation for entertainment.”
