Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada , states: “Mechanical slaughter as well as manual slaughter both fall under the definition of the valid slaughter as long as both are performed through means of sharp blades and all other requirements mentioned above are met. These regulations are good enough to declare the slaughter as Islamically halal and therefore fit for Muslim consumption. Let us not make the laws excessively rigid, for rigidity is disapproved in Islam.”
