Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states: “If this is a medical necessity, and there are no other alternatives, in my humble opinion, then it can be deemed as permissible. Allah forbade consumption of the flesh of the swine: This procedure does not entail consumption; rather it is simply an external application of by products of pork; since then it is absorbed by the body, there is no hard evidence to make it haram.”
