Islam is the very nature of man. It is the religion and the Path chosen by Almighty Allah for him so as to gain happiness in this life and Paradise in the life-to-come.
Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states: “If one believes in the tenets of Islam and have proclaimed the same, then they are considered a Muslim; the fact they feel a deep sense of calling to Allah is an indication that Allah wants them to come closer to Him. But question arises: How are we supposed to come close to Him? Certainly, it cannot be through our whims and fancies; it can only be through the ways and means He Himself has prescribed. Otherwise, we will end up worshiping our own whims and fancies and not God, Who transcends everything. It is this truth that has been eloquently expressed in a sacred saying (hadith qudsi), in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated the following from Allah: “My servant can never come near to Me except by doing what I have bidden him.” So take the next step and do what you are called upon to do by Allah in His final revelation to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
Furthermore, remember Allah will give you all the necessary strength and courage if you call upon Him and seek His assistance. He says, “Call upon Me, I will answer you.””
