Islam encourages us to seek medicine if we feel illness. Some Prophetic traditions command us to seek some remedy when we face some health problems. A woman is required to go to a female doctor unless there is no female doctor or the female doctor is not highly qualified then she can go to a male doctor, bearing in mind that she must be accompanied by one of her mahrams.
Dr. Rif`atFawzi, former professor of Shari`ah at Cairo Univ., states: “If the doctor inserts his finger in the vagina for the sake of examining, then ritual bathing is not required. But the ablution is null, and a muslim lady only needs to renew her ablution in such case”.
