Dr. Maher Hathout</ b>, the Senior Advisor and one of the founders of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) states: “It is allowed to use such tube as vicks for inhaling. Scholars’ views vary on whether the inhaler breaks the fast or not; and as a Muslim physician, I feel myself more inclined to the opinion that it does not break the fast because the moisture it produces gets absorbed through the airways before it reaches the stomach, and if any amount does reach, it will be insignificant. Such insignificant portion can be treated like any moisture that comes into the body through the mouth in a cold, foggy weather. Thus, fasting is not broken by inhaler.”
Does inhaling vicks invalidate fast?
