Sheikh `Abdul-Khaleq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states the following: “Originally, the wife redeems herself when it comes to Khul`, and she pays to the husband to redeem herself from a relationship she doesn’t want to continue. If both the husband and wife agree to share such expenses or else the wife pays, then the decision they reach is Islamically acceptable. Thus, the issue is above all should be agreed upon between the husband and wife.
