Responding to this issue, Dr. Monzer Kahf, Scholar in Islamic Economics and a Financial Expert, said:
It is permissible for a wife to give her husband any kind of gift including spending on him until he becomes earner. This is rather encouraged and she is rewarded by Allah for this action. If she wants him to refund whatever she gives she may, before giving, tell him that this is a loan. Then he becomes, if he accepts to take any money from her under this condition, obligated to repay back all that amount of loans. Please notice that the sharia principle is that husband and wife are financially independent from each other and property and income of wife is hers fully, husband has no a minute right on her income and property. The responsibility to spend on the wife falls on t he husband completely, he, from his own resources (income and wealth) is required to spend on her fully.”
