Islam is the religion of mercy and forgiveness. An example of this mercy is that it allows women to perform some religious rites even though they are menstruating. During hajj or Umrah, if one finds blood or her menses started, she can perform some parts of hajj and she can complete the rest when she is pure. Sheikh `Abdul-Majeed Subh, a prominent Azharite scholar, states:
“You are allowed to do all rituals of hajj or ‘Umarh with the exception of Tawaf and Tawaf al-Ifadah, and when hajj is finished you are expected to do tawaf al-Ifadah. According to the Malikis school of jurisprudence, you are allowed to perform it until the end of the month of Dhul Hajjah. If you are performing hajj or umrah and you start to bleed, you can complete what you were doing except tawaf al-Ifadah and going around the Ka’bah”
