The prominent Muslim scholar and Da`iyah, Zeinab Mostafa, states: “It depends on how much one need to put such thing on their lip. If it is for medical reason, or it is a case of necessity, then one can use it provided that they are aware it does not reach their stomach. If it is not used for a medical reason, such as for purpose of beautification, it is disliked or makruh.”
