Sheikh Ahmad Kutty a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states the following: Applying a patch to the arm does not break the fast, since it is not one of the ways humans feed themselves. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has advised us to take medications and receive treatments. The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) instructed us: “Seek medical treatment, for Allah has provided a cure for every illness.” Having said this, I should stress that we are also forbidden from doing anything that may endanger our health.
