The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “If one needs to name themselves with a rap name attaching them with their creed or religion they may take names such as Muhammad, `Abdurrahman, `Abdullah, etc. which are the best names to Allah. However, if one takes Mecca as a rap name, it may happen that they be insulted by anyone and thus it would be a cause of insulting Makkah. So, it is far better not to take Makkah as a rap name. And they may take any other name that will link them to the creed of Islam.
