Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. Could you please tell me what is the procedure of getting a Shari`ah-based nikah (marriage) done in Toronto. Do I have to get a court marriage done first then Shari`ah-based nikah? Or can I get a Shari`ah-based nikah done first without a court marriage? Jazakum Allah khayran.

Dear Scholars of Islam: This year in October I will insh Allah start studying law at a German university. Is there any opposition to studying law (most of it I think Western law) in Western countries from the Islamic point of view?

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. Please elaborate on the importance of two witnesses for the bride. Also explain what is the Mahr Shar`i (amount in dollars) for Nikah. Can any Muslim perform the Nikah ceremony? Is signing the documents by bride and groom necessary in front of the witnesses?

Some Muslims consider the Western countries Dar al-Harb, consequently they allow themselves to have unacceptable behaviors such as marrying temporarily Western women then divorce them, stealing bank's money by buying goods with credit cards then returning to their countries. What is the Islamic view on these illegal behaviors? And what does Islam say about this mentality?
