Quoting only a portion of a Qur’anic verse
Dear Scholars:as-salamu 'Alaykum! Is it permissible to quote only a portion of verse of the Qur?an? Say for example, ?and mothers shall suckle their children for two (whole) years for those who wish to complete breastfeeding?. I ask from the local Muslim scholar but his response is negative, saying it not permissible to quote a portion of the verse but instead it should be the whole verse even if you are only referring to birth spacing. However, I often read fatwa on IslamOnline which used to quote only a portion of the verse. What is comment regarding this matter? Jazakum Allah khayran.
