Alsalamo Alaykom wa Rahmato Alla wa Barakato, My wife has newly converted to Islam and her sister (still christian)has given her a cross (the one that you wear as a necklace). She (my wife) still loves her family and will always do and does not want to upset them. My question is :- Is it ok for her (my wife) to keep the cross as a present from her sisrter?also can she wear it (not all the time and just every now and then) as a present from her sister? My wife is new to Islam as I told you and I am afraid to say no so that would really put her off. Please help jazakom Allah khyranal

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. My wife last year converted to Islam before we got married. She has been reading the English translation of the Qur'an. My question is, is it required for her to learn Arabic ASAP? What is the view of Islam in a matter like this where mother tongue of new converts is not Arabic? Jazakum Allahu khayran.
