Are Pious People Infallible?
Assalam-o-Alaikum,I am thankful to you that you have provided the opportunity to ask questions about Islam on this website. My Question is regarding hadith-e-qudsi nr. 25:Hadith Qudsi 25:On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (Radhi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu), who said that the Messenger of Allah (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim) said:Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said: Whosoever shows enmity to someone devoted to Me, I shall be at war with him. My servant draws not near to Me with an ything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works (Nawafil) so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it. I do not hesitate about anything as much as I hesitate about [seizing] the soul of My faithful servant: he hates death and I hate hurting him. It was related by al-Bukhari.Some people conclude from this hadith that this hadith shows that pious people who are very close to Allah are infallible. It is said that as whatever they are seeing, doing is through Allah who is infallible so these person can never commint any error or sin.Normally such arguments are made by the followers of some Sufi Masters.I request you to please clear the correct interpretation of the above mentioned hadith for me.
