Humiliating non-Muslims when taking Jizyah
As-salamu alaykum dear scholars.I would like to ask about the TRUE meaning of Quranic verse 9:29, since it has been used by many non-muslims as a proof that Islam doesn't respect the dhimmi.I have read that in the history of Islam some muslims who gathered the jizya tax from the dhimmi used to humiliate them because they thought that the verse I mentioned was interpreted like that.Please help me with this.
