Face-veil

There are some people circulating that niqab (face veil) is bid`ah (an innovation in religion) and that the women wearing it may therefore be sinful. We know that you maintain that hijab (head cover) is obligatory for Muslim women to wear. But do you support the opinion that niqab is bid`ah? And is it permissible, in the viewpoint of Islam, to launch a campaign of criticism in the name of religion against the women who wear niqab with the belief that it is obligatory? I would appreciate it if you could furnish me with a detailed fatwa clarifying the opinion of Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi regarding the issue.

Volume 1, Book 8, Number 368:narrated 'Aisha:allah's Apostle used to offer the Fajr prayer and some believing women covered with their veiling sheets used to attend the Fajr prayer with him and then they would return to their homes unrecognized .does this hadith indicate that there is face veil in islam... as a face veil must have been used to be unrecognized

Assalam alykom wa rahmat Allah wa Barakato! Dear Scholars, A Non-Muslim asked a question that I was unable to figure out pertaining to the burka. If the burka is only worn for cultural reasons,not because they are Muslim, why is it only worn by Muslim women and not all women from that culture? Why is it worn by women all over the world who share no cultural ties other than their religion, Islam? I also wonder about the origins of the burka because in looking on the internet, I found very little. I would be so thankful if you could answer. Allah Hafiz.
