Should a Wife Obey Her Husband and Quit Her Job?

Regarding this issue,  Dr `Abd Al Fattah Idris, a professor of Islamic jurisprudence, said that the husband is the one responsible for the expenses and financial necessities of the wife’s marital life. So, she has to obey her husband if he wants her to leave her current job for whatsoever reason as her stay at home is one of his rights. Even if he is in a financial hardship, it is still his problem and responsibility to solve the situation.

However, it may be better in some cases for the wife to approach the husband kindly and try to persuade him with the importance of her contribution in the house expenses as long as he cannot afford them for the time being. However, if he still insists, then he should be left to solve his problem by himself as he plans or wishes.
