Sheikh Mohamed El-Moctar El-Shinqiti, Director of the Islamic Center of South Plains, Lubbock, Texas , states: “There is noting wrong in selling such clothes. We don’t even need to investigate the origin of the dyes and chemicals used in the manufacture. This kind of investigation is tanattu’ (hair-splitting). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us to avoid such unnecessary complications. For example, you don’t have to ask your Muslim host what kind of meet he presented to you in his home, or whether it is halal or not. Simplicity and good faith in dealing with other people are very important principles of Islamic ethics.”
