The prominent Muslim scholar and Da`iyah, Zeinab Mostafa, states: “Husbands should first understand the psyche of pregnant women. Certain biological changes affect their psychological status and ruin their appetite especially in the beginning. A wife may refuse intimacy not because she hates her husband or that she does not want to, but because she does not feel normal from inside. Husbands need to be patient and affectionate at this time, rather than angry and annoyed. Try to tolerate this refusal and help her overcome this situation.
