We can say that one of the necessary pre-conditions for performing the prayer is the performance of ablution. This is a stipulation for the validity of the prayer to the extent that Muslim jurists state that in case one is not able to use water or there is scarcity in water and it is beyond one’s reach, one can perform dry ablution or tayammum as a possible alternative to ablution. In case one insists on performing prayer without ablution for no reason, then his prayer is not valid and he has to repeat it again.
