The prominent Muslim scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal Nadvi, Director and Imam of Al-Falah Islamic Center, Oakville, Ontario, Canada, states: “Muslims that are living in a non-Muslim country often find themselves surrounded by non-Muslims in their day-to-day life activities, and regarding prayer Muslims should try to find a place or ask for an area where they can perform their prayer in quietness. However, some might feel shy and as for the shyness problem, try to disregard any thought of embarrassment. Think positive instead: think that Allah might guide someone’s heart through your Prayer, that someone might be interested to know about your faith when he or she gets to see you praying. You should be proud of your obedience to Allah and disregard any feeling of embarrassment.”
