The correct view is that there are 7 Takbirs in the first Rak`ah of `Eid, while there are 5 in the second Rak`ah. This is based on the authentic hadith reported by the Mother of the Believers `Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) in which she quoted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as saying, “Takbirs in both `Eidul-Fitr and `Eidul-Adha are seven Takbirs in the first Rak`ah, and five in the second Rak`ah.” (Reported by Abu Dawud)
