In Islam, if the baby is born alive, he/she aught to be named on the seventh day following his/her birth. In case there is miscarriage, the miscarried fetus should not be named. What is important, as far as the issue in question is concerned, is that you exercise remarkable patience, feel satisfied with Allah’s Decree and pray for your offspring both the alive and the dead.
Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states: “There is nothing in the sources that would require us to name a fetus that has not been carried to full term and delivered as a child. Naming is prescribed only after the delivery.
