The prominent Muslim scholar and Da`iyah, Zeinab Mostafa, states: “Both maternal and paternal grandparents deserve utmost respect and veneration from our children. Usually, grandparents find a lot of joy in giving gifts to little children. So we should think well of them, as long as there is no ground for evil intentions. The way we treat our grandparents is what our children will grow up to imitate and practice it with their fathers and mothers. So we should not encourage any behaviour of refusing gifts, especially if there is no valid ground for it.”
