The eminent Muslim scholar Sheikh `AbdelKhaliqHasan Ash-Shareef, a renowned scholar and Da`iyah, states: “Of course Muslims have the full right to limit contacts with relatives up to the minimum level if they are sure that such contacts will affect their kids. We encourage muslims to do the best to rear their children in the way that will please Allah the Almighty and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
However, one has to be patient with that as they might face some unpleasant reactions from relatives but when the matter comes to our religion, then everything else would become worthless. We should remember that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ) said: “If an act of disobedience (to Allah) is imposed, one should not listen to it or obey it.”Reported by Al-Bukahri.
