The prominent Azharite scholar Sheikh `Abdul-Majeed Subh, states the following: “It has been authentically reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) combined prayers (i.e Zuhr with `Asr, Maghrib with `Isha) while he was not traveling nor sick. Many authentic hadiths state that the Prophet did so while he was neither travelling nor there was rain. However, Muslim jurists state that it is strongly discouraged to combine prayers every now and then based on the above act of the Prophet. Thus, taking this as a custom without a valid reason should be avoided.”
Is combining prayers only during traveling?
