In his response to this issue, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, stated that ‘There is no objection in getting the help of a non-Muslim mother during delivery or post-delivery period of a Muslim lady, as long as she does not conduct any specific religious rituals contrary to Islam, and as long as the lady takes charge of initiating the child to Islam with the help of her husband. Perhaps she can use this opportunity to attract her mother to Islam or at least make her sympathetic to it.’
