Sheikh Muhammad Al-Mukhtar Ash-Shinqiti, Director of the Islamic Center of South Plains,Lubbock, Texas, states: “Al-hamdullilah we do not suffer from shortage of either scholars or scientists as far as moon sighting is concerned. The issue of moon sighting is different from halal meat and kosher. There is sufficiency in Muslim scholars and scientists. It is also a religious issue where the testimony of the non-Muslim would be irrelevant.”
