The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “Facing the Qiblah is one of the prerequisites of performing Prayer. However, facing the Qiblah is not one of the conditions of either delivering the Friday khutbah or sitting while listening to it. So, there is nothing wrong in sitting during the Friday khutbah while not facing the Qiblah.”
