Dr. Maher Hathout, the Senior Advisor and one of the founders of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) states: It is not akin to murder, simply because it is not counted as a potential human life. These fertilized eggs are not considered as potential life until they are attached to the inner wall of the uterus or the womb. Moreover, Islam allows us to use the current knowledge to predict which one will be the healthy perfect embryo, because the origin of creation is perfection. If the weather man can tell me that there would a storm in a certain direction while the weather would be nice in another one, it goes without saying that I will choose to go to the nice direction that has no storm. By the same token, if medical knowledge can tell me which embryo is expected to be the healthy one, this should be the choice, and the basic for this is the possibility to prevent the harm before it actually takes place.
