Dr. Muhammad Abu Laylah, professor of the Islamic Studies & Comparative Religions at Al-Azhar Univ. states: “Generally speaking, we’d like to make it clear that Prophet Jesus (peace and blessings be upon him) did not cancel laws of Prophet Moses (peace and blessings be upon him) but he completed and fulfilled them. Jesus himself said, “I did not come to change but to approve what has been revealed.” So, he directed the Children of Israel to a more spiritual life. This is in regard to morality and values.
As regards Shari`ah, Almighty Allah may send new laws with a newly coming prophet and may abrogate laws that were specific to a certain time and circumstances.”
