Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada , states: “Ideally, according to all scholars, a person who is performing Hajj on behalf of another person must have done Hajj on his own behalf first. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told some who was intending to perform Hajj on behalf of another relative of his that he should do so on himself first and then another time on behalf of his relative.
