First of all, we would like to stress the fact that, every committed Muslim should have a firm belief that Allah Almighty is UNIQUE in everything. There is no resemblance between Allah, the Creator and His creation. Referring to this, Allah Almighty says: “Naught is as His likeness; and He is the Hearer, the Seer.” (Ash-Shura: 11)
Also, one should be aware of the perverted ideas promoted by some non-Muslims in this regard. In addition, every Muslim has to be aware of the snares of the Satan, and to avoid any wishful thinking concerning such issues that do more harm to the minds of Muslims than benefiting them
Sheikh Muhammad Nur Abdullah, ISNA President and Member of the Fiqh Council of North America, states the following: “Allah is named Allah; this is the proper name that we could only use with Him as the names of Allah are tawqifiyyah, or divinely revealed. We could only call Allah with any name He called Himself with: Allah, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Raheem, Al-Haqq, etc., you can use any of the 99 names of Allah.
We can never think of Allah’s entity and even try to talk about this because that leads to a lot of creedal mistakes while our minds are so restricted and can’t delve into issues beyond its capabilities. We can only think of Allah’s signs, power, knowledge, etc. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Reflect upon the signs of Allah and do not think of how He looks.””
