Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, President of the Fiqh Council of North America, states the following: After divorce a Muslim woman has to wait for three menstrual cycles if she is not pregnant or until the delivery of the child if she is pregnant. This period is called `iddah. If a lady has completed her `iddah period then she is allowed to marry another person.
