Dr. Monzer Kahf, a prominent economist and counsellor states: “Serving or offering alcohol (by just putting it on the table) to clients, Muslim or non-Muslim alike, is not permissible. If a non-Muslim colleagues serve or offer it in our presence and or in the presence of a Muslim client, we should not mind being in that function provided it is not served or taken on the table that we are sitting on because in such sale functions we are normally in chat and companionship with persons on our table (as compared with the case in some restaurant that may have large table on which each person is independent from the other).
In business lunches, it is not permissible for a Muslim to sit with colleagues who are drinking alcohol, we should politely inform them that your religion does not permit you to sit with them while they drink.“
