The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “Only the body of the prophets (peace and blessings be upon them all) are preserved in the graves. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said that Almighty Allah prohibited the earth to eat the body of prophets. As for other bodies, they are not preserved in the grave. Some people say that martyr’s bodies are also preserved, but they have no clear evidence on this.”
