Dr. Marawan Shahin, Professor of Hadith and its Sciences, Faculty of Usul Ad-Din (Theology),Al-Azhar Univ. states: “There is nothing wrong as far as Islamic Shari`ah is concerned in bleaching the teeth, placing composite restorations, porcelain veneers or the like to cover discolored teeth or to make periodontal surgery to get normal shape, size and appearance. The criterion in this regard is to separate between what includes disfigurement and necessitates anything from what you said to remove it and what does not include disfigurement and is being done for cheat. This is not allowed. May Allah bless you and your source of earning.”
