Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada , states: “Muslims are advised to stay away from such addictions; if they are in anyway mind altering, they are definitely considered as haram. If on other hand there are no benefits from them except wasting valuable resources or polluting the environment, likewise, they are at least undesirable, if not absolutely forbidden. Let us use our resources wisely and respect the environment.“
