Zeinab Al-`Alawani, Instructor of Fiqh and Islamic Studies,Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences, states the following: “If a man is serious in his proposal, he can ask about the size of the prospective spouse’s clothes. But if the man’s sister or mother are involved in the process and they already met the girl, why would a man want to know the size of her chest, hip or waist. It is impolite to ask a prospective spouse these questions especially in the beginning of the process. So it would be embarrassing to ask such questions, which are very personal.”
